| " WOODLAND MAIDEN " |
|
| In this painting I've tried to capture a little of the quiet and serentity of a woodland setting. Situated next to a creek with morels growing and a beautiful maiden gathering for an evening meal, this painting is more on the fantasy side. I have to admit that I haven't actually seen a sight like this, but that is why we dream. |

| " THE EARLY BIRD " |
|
| Like the robin on the post with the worm in his beak, the boy picking morels has gotten up early enough to be the first one to pick the fresh morels. The deer in the background are looking on, the pintails are flying overhead and a squirrel is scampering over the woodland floor. All signs that another beautiful spring day has begun. Coming up the lane is man that just took to much time getting ready for the days hunt. Like the old saying, "It's the early bird that gets the worm", or in this case the morels. |

| " WARBLERS AND SHROOMS " |
|
| When the warblers arrive in spring it's time to head up the lane and into the woods. These flighty little birds are a welcome sight in the spring, but not quite as exciting as the view of a few fresh morels. Now when you have both, along with a curious deer it can be simply overwhelming. As I was painting this scene I almost passed out! If it wasn't for a quick swiq of my favorite beverage I may have never finished this scene. |

| " WRONG SIDE OF THE CREEK " |
|
| You're young, the sun is setting, and you've spent all afternoon hunting for morels. You've had no success and your younger friends ended up playing with the dog instead of helping. You know that across the creek you may have a better chance of finding morels, but there nailed to a tree is a sign that reads "No Hunting". |
